2010 Events
September is a great month to visit the Great Smoky Mountains and plan your next stay at the Hemlock Inn. The air is cool and crisp, the summertime rush has quieted and the leaves begin to show signs of the breathtaking change to vibrancy and color.
We at the Hemlock Inn would love for you to come visit us during this great time of year and take advantage of three unique and diverse events we have planned.
Photo Workshop – September 11-14
Ever wanted to capture those stunning mountain views off the front porch at the Hemlock Inn? Well this is a great opportunity for you to learn how to do so. Enjoy the normal Hemlock Inn experience with the added bonus of learning a new trade and capturing those great shots you can cherish for years to come. This FREE photo workshop is designed for both budding and experienced DSL photographers and is held at the Inn. Some topics to be included are:
- Exploring the functions of the digital camera
- Nuts and bolts of nature photography including composition, exposure, color and light
- Power of light
- Advanced functions of the digital camera
There will also be ample time for practical outdoor shooting in the beautiful surrounding area at the Inn and at Deep Creek in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The instructor will be Ricke Hester, long time Hemlock Inn guest and owner of Hester Photography in Jefferson City, Tennessee.
Watercolor Workshop – September 12-17
During your Hemlock Inn stay, learn to create beautiful watercolor masterpieces that you can take home with you at our Watercolor Workshop in the middle of September. Elizabeth Ellison, renowned local watercolor artist, is offering special sessions just for Hemlock Inn guests during that week. Learn in her Bryson City studio/gallery how to create the art you’ve always dreamed of and be able to boast in your work for years to come. If there is enough response, Elizabeth will come to the Inn personally for the sessions. Cost is the same to stay at the Inn plus an hourly added on charge for the watercolor sessions.
